Getting Tired of Cleaning? 4 Sources of Inspiration That’ll Rekindle Your Love
Not everyone enjoys cleaning and even if you do it’s easy to lose your motivation over time. If you are one of the many people who hates cleaning or need some extra motivation, we’ve got the tips and tricks you need to reenergize yourself. Whether you are searching for a reason to clean your room, your apartment, your house, or your business we’ve got the inspiration you need to help you get the job done. Rekindling your motivation doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it takes time and adding a new habit here and there to your routine before it gets better.
1. Make a Game of It
Sometimes the task of cleaning can seem overwhelming when you’ve got so much on the go. One trick to try is to set a timer and make a game of seeing how much you can get done in a short set amount of time. If you’re feeling really overwhelmed setting a timer for 10 or 15 minutes is a good place to start. If you want to keep your cleaning localized to one floor or area set the timer on your stove or another appliance. If you want to clean more than one area or do something that involves multiple areas or floors like vacuuming you can try setting a timer on your phone, fitness band, or smartwatch that you can carry with you while cleaning or leave in a place where you can hear it.
2. Watch A YouTube Video
This one might sound a bit counterintuitive but used effectively can really work! You may be wondering how watching a video on YouTube is magically going to clean your house. The answer is it’s not, but it might help you get there. There are actually quite a lot of very useful and effective cleaning videos on YouTube that can help motivate you or inspire you on how you could clean or reorganize a room. Psychologically, there’s something about watching someone take their house or room from messy to clean that is actually quite motivating! When you need that extra push to get the job done an inspiring video can really help. Just be careful not to fall down the YouTube rabbit hole! Setting a timer or using the downtime or screen time setting on your phone can help with this.
3. Invite People Over
Another great motivator for cleaning is company! Invite some friends over for a movie night, dinner party, or game night and see how motivated you become to do something you’ve been putting off for weeks or months. Knowing people you care about or want to impress will be coming over to see your space really brings everything into focus and allows you to clearly prioritize what needs to be done now and what can wait till later. Once you’ve accomplished those smaller tasks, you’ll likely find that there are several larger tasks that you do in fact have time for.
4. Buy Yourself Some New Cleaning Products
Sometimes just buying yourself some new products to use or a new scent of something you already have or use often can help you feel inspired and want to clean so you can try out the new scent or ask other people’s opinions on it! There’s just something about cleaning with new products that make your house, room, or business smell good that is particularly motivating. If you’re looking for inspiration on what to buy, we recommend trying a new all-purpose cleaner or kitchen disinfectant. It’s also a good idea to keep all your cleaning products together so if you don’t already have one or could use a new storage caddy for all of your cleaning supplies is a good idea as well. Candles and diffusers are also a nice added touch that you can treat yourself to and spruce up any room.
